A fabulous day, a ton of people. We started moving down Pennsylvania Avenue about 10:30 am. There was a huge crowd in front and uncounted numbers behind us. I saw people from everywhere, all ages all professions and some really great signs and banners. I was travleing with the North Georgia912 group(part of the Tea Party at large). I think we have settled on a million and a half participants. At 2 pm they were still marching down Pennsylvania Avenue. All you could see were people, signs and banners. I ended up on the mall in between fourth and seventh street and people were still coming fast. Everyone was in a good mood and the roars of the crowd echoed off the buildings at times. Me, I fulfilled my wish of just being there to show support I also walked down to the White House and with my megaphone at full blast let it all go. A year and a half of pent up frustration with the insanity in Washington. I knew Obama wasn't there and I was alone with a bunch of tourists but I didn't care. I said a lot of things, mostly my reaction to news over the past year. I do remember how I started "Can you hear me now". I asked how come the staff couldn't pay their taxes. I asked why we needed another giant agency to "fix" health care. I asked about the birth certificate and suggested he should just show it during one of his many speeches. I told the building I had read the "bill" and asked how come we have to form a commission to study the health care reform needs when they should know them already. I also said I wanted them to gut the budget as we are bankrupt. I asked do you know what phyric victory meant and answered - It means you are the king of a pile of crap!!. I asked about Frank Rich and the forty million he made at Fannie Mae. I asked what they wanted to do about homeowners who bought their homes the traditional way but are now losing them because they lost their jobs or have had pay cuts. I am just barely holding my own with a roomate and that I was angry they were helping those who bought homes they couldn't affored with ARMs. How was that fair to me? I also asked about the apology owed me for being called a racist nazi, for being considered ignorant and a fool.
Anyway, It really felt good to get that off my chest. I also want to point out that this was not a "fringe group" There were everyday people there who are angry and appalled with the actions of the current administration and congress at that protest.
