Coming soon to a Senate Chamber near you.
Any one else believe the poll data? I do not. I seem to remember something similar in 2004, wasn't it the Election Day exit polls that had Kerry winning? I don't know about you but I feel as if the outcome of this election is being forced on me with a smile and chorus of it’s the right thing. The big issue this week - negative campaign advertisements. If you ask me it is another pro-democrat argument like reaching across the aisle. Compromise, the script has been overdone; Conservatives are bad for not compromising after all the Democrats only want to help people. Can't we agree for the greater good? Social justice and Universal Healthcare for everyone! What exactly does that mean? The great society or a pie in the sky dream of perfect existence for all in the world? The problem is that people actually believe it is possible it or want to for various reasons and opportunists abound.
One big problem for the conservative position is that the “hot issues” today are pre-determined and controlled by a left leaning mainstream media. Haven't you noticed that all news and pundits cover the same issues in the same way? It’s a formula, arguments against and arguments for, are scripted to fit a pre-determined discourse. This discourse is not broad enough. It allows for debating points on a narrow set of circumstances, reduced to sound bites and a two minute span of time. We need to retake control of and redefine the argument. The debate is really about free choice and defined or mandated choice. We need to emphasize this. We need to take on the Left by striking at the foundations of their argument. There is fertile ground there, lots of one-liners. Our position? We are not bad, outdated, ignorant, or narrow minded or mean, we are responsible stewards of the public trust. Our concern is for the American taxpayer and preserving the beliefs of the founding fathers when they started this little experiment in Democracy, aren’t you?
Issues to bring up:
How about the provision in the regulations that accommodated rent and car payments when people applied for public assistance. How many bought a Cadillac before they applied for assistance and just when did it dawn on the government that paying for the car, although thoughtful, was a foolish decision? Given this and the history of similar abuses, like having children for more money in the welfare system, how can the Democrats really justify their position of ignorant altruism in having pushed home ownership for the salvation of the poor? Ask yourself one question, just where and how did these predatory lenders find the homeowners? The poor do not typically contact a realtor and say I want a house. The answer, advocacy groups, community banks and development organizations funded by your tax dollar. Well, this time their altruistic ignorance managed to mandate the ruin of the world’s economy in the name of social justice. Ask them just when does ignorance and hope become stupidity. A little more digging just might yield a diamond mine of one-liners.
Currently, our best advantage is the deficit, emphasize and focus on that debt. Change you bet but since we do not have the money we need to be asking what the best use of tax dollars will be. It is more important that focus on the fundamentals rather than the ideals. We need to make repairs on our infrastructure, more energy efficiency, innovative transportation solutions. There is room for compromise there with environmentalists and address global warming(which I am skeptical about). Social needs, how about rebuilding the community. At the same time we can provide jobs, have on the job training, and get people to where work is. When done they have been retrained or have new skills and are able to pursue gainful employment, maybe back in their home town. Above all, keep pressing the fact that we don’t have the money. As a twist on the democratic argument, encourage the voter to think outside the box. Is government the only organization to fix things or fund community development? How about the individual? What is his job? Wouldn't there be a greater pool of ideas to draw from out of the general public versus government plans? Governments job is to protect the peoples right to liberty. We have laws that protect the individual against egregious trespasses. Anything more is making the citizen do what a few people think they should do. You are not as helpless, free enterprise is not as evil and the conservative is not as stupid as the Democrat would have you believe. Maybe a throw in a PR commercial showing a bunch of people in all walks of life, saying “I am a conservative”
We really do need to fight it won’t be long before we find ourselves with no choices. I do wonder how the future will pan out, conservatives as freedom fighters? We are actually on the outside fighting our way in what a twist.
